Brian Fortney is a Master Teacher in the Teach North Texas program since the Fall of 2016. Dr. Fortney comes to us from UT San Antonio where he taught Physical Science & Science Education in the College of Education & Human Development as well as eight years of secondary level teaching experience in public schools. Dr. Fortney's research interests are focused upon developing teaching identity and agency beliefs held by pre-service and in-service teachers about inquiry, teaching, and student learning in STEM as well as the beliefs held by pre-service and in-service teachers about diversity and equity in STEM education. Dr. Fortney received his Ph.D. in Science Education from UT Austin, his Masters of Arts in Teaching degree in K-12 Science Education and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from the University of Iowa.
